Purpose and Commitment

This Code of Conduct outlines the standards of behaviour expected of all learners attending MonteNova Academy. We provide a supportive learning environment that combines online learning, tutor-led instruction and structured study sessions.

All learners are expected to uphold these standards to ensure a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment for themselves and others.

When attending MonteNova Academy, you commit to adhering to this Code of Conduct and the policies outlined below.

1. Attendance and Punctuality

  • If attending a scheduled tutor-led lesson make sure you arrive on time.
  • Arrive prepared with necessary materials and equipment for each session you are attending, ready to take ownership of your learning.

2. Respect and Professional Conduct

  • Treat tutors, staff, and fellow learners with respect and kindness at all times.
  • Show respect for diversity, including differences in culture, race, gender, religion and ability.
  • Do not engage in bullying, harassment, intimidation, or discriminatory behaviour.
  • Communicate respectfully using appropriate language in all interactions, whether in-person or online.

3. Online Learning Platform Responsibilities

  • It is your responsibility to submit your online assignments correctly onto the platform, adhering to the deadlines given.
  • Regularly engage with assigned coursework and learning materials on the platform according to the agreed study schedule.
  • Protect your login credentials and do not share your account with others.
  • Complete online assessments and assignments independently and with academic integrity.
  • Report technical issues to staff promptly so that support can be provided.

4. Academic Integrity

  • Submit all work that is your own. Plagiarism, copying, or cheating of any kind can have serious consequences.
  • When using sources or information from others, provide proper attribution and references.
  • Work independently during assessments unless specifically instructed to work in groups.
  • Understand that breaches of academic integrity may result in disciplinary action, including removal from the programme.

5. Active Participation and Engagement

  • Actively participate in tutor-led lessons and contribute constructively to discussions.
  • Ask questions and seek clarification when you do not understand the material.
  • Engage with your tutor regarding challenges with your learning or external factors affecting your studies.
  • Show commitment to your learning by completing assigned tasks and preparing for sessions.

6. Learning Space and Study Session Conduct

  • Avoid disrupting tutor-led lessons or study sessions through unnecessary noise or distracting behaviour.
  • Use mobile phones and electronic devices only for academic use and when permitted by your tutor.
  • Maintain a tidy and organised learning space free from unnecessary distractions.
  • Follow the instructions and requests of tutors and staff.

7. Health and Safety

  • Follow all health and safety protocols and procedures in place at MonteNova Academy.
  • Report hazards, injuries, or safety concerns to staff immediately.
  • Take reasonable care to protect the physical and emotional safety of yourself and others.
  • Do not engage in aggressive, threatening, or violent behaviour toward any person.
  • Do not consume alcohol, illegal drugs, or engage in any illegal activity on the premises. Smoking and vaping is not allowed on the premises.

8. Care of Learning Centre Facilities and Resources

  • Treat all MonteNova Academy facilities, equipment, and resources with care and respect.
  • Report any damage to equipment or facilities to staff immediately.
  • You may be held responsible for damage caused by negligence or intentional misconduct.
  • Return all borrowed materials or equipment in good condition and on time.

9. Communication with Staff

  • Communicate with tutors and staff through the designated channels and during appropriate times.
  • Provide clear and honest information about your learning needs, progress, or challenges.

10. Confidentiality and Privacy

  • Respect the privacy and confidential information of fellow learners, tutors, and staff.
  • Do not share personal information about others without their consent.
  • Do not record, photograph, or screenshot sessions or materials without permission.
  • Understand that MonteNova Academy may collect and process personal data in accordance with privacy laws and regulations.

11. Right to Appeal

  • Learners have the right to appeal any disciplinary decision within 5 working days.
  • Appeals should be submitted in writing to the centre management, stating the grounds for appeal.

12. Acknowledgement

When attending MonteNova Academy, you acknowledge that:

  • You have read and understood this Code of Conduct.
  • You agree to abide by all standards outlined in this document.
  • You understand the consequences of violating this Code of Conduct.
  • You are committed to contributing to a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment.
